Deployment Guide

Prerequisites

  • VMware Aria Operations 8.10+
  • Docker-compatible collector (VMware Aria Operations Cloud Proxy)
  • Network access from Cloud Proxy to:
    • Dell iDRAC / HP iLO Redfish endpoints (HTTPS)
    • Dell OpenManage Enterprise (OME)
    • https://registry.indevops.com (container image pull)
  • Management interface credentials (username/password)

Pre-pull adapter's container image

Adapter's container must be pre-pulled on cloud proxy instances.

  1. SSH as root to cloud-proxies belonging to the collector group where adapter is to be ran.
  2. Login to docker registry using docker login harbor.indevops.com.
    • Use Harbor robot account designated for that deployment - ask ASI team to generate a token.
  3. Pull the adapter container image using docker pull <IMAGE NAME>.
    • Image name can be found on the release page for a given version of the management pack.

Install PAK file

  1. Download PAK file for version matching the pre-pulled adapter container image.
    • PAK file can be found on the release page for a given version of the management pack.
  2. Login to VMware Aria Operations and go to Data Sources > Integrations > Repository > Add and upload the PAK file, selecting both:
    • Install the PAK file even if it is already installed,
    • Ignore the PAK file signature checking.
  3. Install the management pack.

Configure adapter account

  1. Navigate to Data Sources > Integrations > Accounts > Add and select VCFServersInsight.
  2. Fill in the adapter instance fields:
    • Management Interface — select DELL iDRAC / DELL OpenManage Enterprise / HP iLO
    • Host — list of management hosts (iDRAC/OME/iLO addresses), , or ; separate for multiple
    • Username — management interface username
    • Password — management interface password
  3. Save and validate the connection.

Per-interface notes

Dell iDRAC

  • Add each server's iDRAC host under Host.
  • Enable Telemetry service and the relevant Metric Report Definition on iDRAC to collect CPU/memory utilization.
  • iDRAC 7.20/7.30/8.x/9 supported; report state need not be Enabled — telemetry on is sufficient.

Dell OpenManage Enterprise

  • Add the OME console host under Host (not individual servers).
  • The collector must be able to reach each blade's iDRAC directly (OME provides the IP from DeviceManagement) to collect CPU/memory/storage/network/BIOS.
  • OME provides device list, temperature, power, uptime, and inventory.

HPE iLO

  • Add each server's iLO host under Host; iLO uses session auth.
  • CPU/memory utilization available only on Intel servers (from Oem.Hpe.SystemUsage); AMD/ARM do not expose these metrics.

Validation

After configuring, verify:

  1. The adapter account status is successful (no authentication errors).
  2. Physical Server, Chassis, and Network Switch objects appear in the environment.
  3. Metrics (CPU/memory utilization, temperature, power) and properties populate on the next collection cycle.
  4. No errors in the collection logs.
